Introduction to shaft seal cooler:
The shaft seal cooler is used to extract the steam and gas mixture from the steam seal system of the steam turbine, preventing steam from flowing from the end seal to the turbine room and oil system, thereby polluting the environment and damaging the oil quality. These vapor compounds enter the shaft seal cooler and are cooled into water, heating the condensed water. The remaining uncondensed gas is discharged into the atmosphere. In the shaft seal system of steam turbines, various steam turbine manufacturers adopt a cautious attitude towards using a long throat water jet air extractor with a shaft seal cooler. In the 1990s, during the design of a 35MW unit, after a comprehensive analysis of the unit's vacuum system and shaft seal system, it was decided to adopt the design scheme of a long throat water jet air extractor with drainage energy and shaft seal cooler. After being installed in five 35MW units in Indonesia for an annual operation, it has been demonstrated that not only has the system been simplified, but also the number of sets of shaft seal extraction equipment has been reduced, saving engineering investment. At the same time, the working pressure of the shaft seal cooler and condenser is stable, meeting the various operating conditions of the units and meeting the design requirements.
Principle of shaft seal cooler:
The air that enters with the shaft seal steam is led to the expansion pipe of the water jet steam extractor through a connecting pipe, and is extracted by the negative pressure of the latter to ensure the micro vacuum state of the shaft seal heater. In this way, the chambers of each shaft seal also maintain a slight vacuum, and the shaft seal steam does not leak out. Long throat water jet air extractor and its system -
In the late 1970s to early 1950s, a long throat water jet air extractor was developed domestically. Due to its low unit power consumption, high economy, low noise, simple structure, stable operation, convenient manufacturing, safety and reliability, it was widely used in various capacity units. The layout elevation of the long throat water jet air extractor (i.e. the distance between the outlet section of the air extractor and the water surface of the pool) is only 1m, and its outlet back pressure is relatively high. It is designed to be 0.09-0.097MPa. Therefore, whether to use the drainage residual energy of the long throat water jet air extractor with a shaft seal cooler - directly suspended is uncertain, and all steam turbine manufacturers are cautious.
The function of turbine shaft seal cooler:
When the steam turbine adopts an internal leakage shaft seal system, a shaft seal heater (shaft seal cooler) is generally installed to heat the condensate, recover the shaft seal steam, thereby reducing the loss of shaft seal steam and heat, and improving the environmental conditions of the workshop.
